A guest lecture on “21st Century Skills for Holistic Development” organized at Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune on 28th April, 2023. Mr. Vivek Sawant, Chief Mentor, Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL), was invited as guest. Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary Kannada Sangha, Mr. S. G. Bapat, Former Chancellor Tilak Maharastra Vidyapeeth, Mr. Ashok Jamenis,Renowned Industry Expert, Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal Kaveri College and Dr. Muckta Karmarker, Vice-Principal Kaveri College added charm with their presence at the event. Mrs. Malati Kalmadi felicitated Mr. Vivek Sawant, Mr. S. G. Bapat and Mr. Ashok Jemenis. After this, Mr. Sawant started the presentation by introducing the topic “Green Collar + New Collar Careers Skilling and Upskilling”.
Mr. Vivek Sawant in his presentation told the audience about the emerging importance of the “Green Collar Jobs” and he also made students aware about career opportunities in “Green Collar Area”. Mr. Sawant asked students to have 3Ps in their personalities as Purpose, Passion and Perseverance for 3D careers which stands for Decent, Dignified and Delightful. Mr. Sawant elaborated further that this green area has potential to create jobs for a school dropout to a PhD scholar. He also gave examples of green collar jobs area wise such as Policy Planning, Agronomic Engineering, Solar Power management, Natural Building Architecture and Circular Economy Studies. In the second part of the presentation, Mr. Sawant discussed New Collar Career in which he talked about how technology can help create new career opportunities. He shed light on the areas which have potential to create such jobs, examples are Digitization, Digitalization, Automation, Virtualization, Mobilization and Appification. He further made the students aware about the challenges in both the fields and the ways to conquer them. Mr. Sawant ended his presentation with the note that both areas have huge potential, which needs to be unleashed.
