The Department of Commerce of Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune organized a guest lecture under the series Industry Youth Connect 2026 – 27 titled “The Future of Manufacturing and Emerging Career Opportunities.” The session was conducted on 8th August 2026 in the AV Room, 6th Floor. The event featured eminent speakers Mr. Abhay Pendse, Vice President & Plant Head, Godrej Motor Solutions. The program aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations by providing students with insights into the evolving Industry 5.0.
The speaker shared insights from his long experience in the manufacturing industry and explained the journey of the organization from its early products to its present diversified businesses. He also spoke about how rapidly the world has changed in terms of technology, communication, infrastructure and business opportunities. The introduction helped students understand that continuous change and adaptability are essential for both individuals and organizations.
During the lecture, the speaker explained the Five Industrial Revolutions, from mechanization and electrification to automation, digitalization, and Industry 5.0, which focuses on personalization and humanization. He discussed the importance of a global mindset, changing customer expectations, different generations, demographic changes and emerging megatrends. He also explained the concept of the business ecosystem, highlighting the interaction between customers, suppliers, employees, government, investors and other stakeholders. A major part of the lecture focused on the growing importance of data and analytics. The speaker emphasized that merely having data or qualifications is not enough; students must develop the ability to understand information, analyze it, think creatively, and convert it into meaningful decisions. He also highlighted the importance of AI, critical thinking, creativity and human judgement in the modern workplace.
The lecture concluded with an inspiring message that change is constant and those who understand and adapt to change are more likely to succeed. The speaker encouraged students to look beyond academic degrees and develop practical knowledge, creativity, analytical skills, adaptability and a global perspective. He emphasized that businesses and individuals must continuously understand changing customer needs, technology and society in order to remain competitive. The session provided students with valuable insights into the changing business environment and motivated them to develop a growth-oriented mindset and prepare themselves for the opportunities and challenges of the future.
