Kaveri Research and Innovation Cell (KRIC)
Kaveri Research and Innovation Cell (KRIC) was established in the academic year 2015-16 with the aim of inculcating research aptitude among the students and staff members of the college. The objectives of KRIC are as follows:
Objectives
- To create zeal amongst students and faculty members towards research and innovation
- To search niche areas of research and try to create Centers of Excellence
- To promote research in various departments of the college by organizing the lectures of eminent researchers
- To foster collaborations with Industries for mutual benefits
- To explore the industrial needs and undertake the projects that eventually will result in new or improved products, systems or services
- To establish collaboration with other Colleges, Universities and Institutions and try to identify R&D projects which can also include consultancy services
- To provide research environment and effective management of R&D projects undertaken by the faculty members at the college level
- To connect research with application for the benefit of society
Various initiatives taken by the college authority to fulfill the objectives of KRIC are
- As one of the initiatives, it was decided by the authority that each staff member will publish at least one research paper in an academic year. Also Principal encouraged and guided the staff members to send research project proposals to various funding agencies
- The college authority allows the staff members to attend and participate in International/National Level Conferences
- The college has been organizing National/ State Level Seminar/ Conference/ Workshops every year
- The college also provides the necessary infrastructure such as Internet facility and access to e-journals through INFLIBNET which is available in the college library for the students and staff members
- The staff members of the college encourage the students to participate in various Paper Presentation and Project Competitions
- Through ‘Caught you doing something Great’ board, college authority appreciates the staff members after publishing/presenting the research papers in International Journals/Conferences
- The college authority also recognizes the staff members by giving ‘Appreciation Award’ after publishing/presenting research papers in International Journal/Conference during Annual Prize Distribution function of the college
- The college provides financial assistance to the staff members to present research paper in International/National Conferences
- Various workshops on Research Methodology are organized for the students to encourage them to start the research
- Every year, SPPU organises ‘AVISHKAR’, a State level research project competition for the students of all the colleges affiliated to SPPU. KRIC organises Guiding Sessions on ‘AVISHKAR’ competition by eminent researchers for the students. Every year, students from all faculties participate in this competition. Faculty members guide and help these students for the preparation of research projects
The college authority and KRIC is taking continuous efforts to fulfil the said objectives. From 2015 till date, 7 staff members have completed their Ph.D. and many staff members are pursuing their Ph.D.
Two staff members have completed research projects. One was sanctioned by BCUD section of SPPU of Rs.1,20,000/- and other was sanctioned by SPPU_ISRO Joint Research Programme of Savitribai Phule Pune University of Rs. 19,18,400/-.
Many staff members have published research papers in International/National Journals/Conferences. Few of them awarded with Best Paper of the conference.
Various activities were conducted by KRIC during last five years. Major activities are listed as follows
One day Seminar on Career Opportunities in Research for Science Students (18 August 2017)
- The inauguration function of Kaveri Research and Innovation Cell was held on, 1st October, 2016 at the hands of Chief Guest Dr. Sanjeev Galande, Dean, Research & Development, IISER, Pune
- Kaveri Research and Innovation Cell in association with Student Development Centre of the college organized one day seminar on ‘Career Opportunities in Research for Science students’ on 18th August 2017
- ‘Orientation Lectures for AVISHKAR – 2017’ was organized for the students on 27th September 2017
- One day session on the topic ‘Research Methodology’ was organised on 27th June 2018. In continuation with this, the second session on ‘Research Methodology’ was organized on 28 August, 2018
- To encourage the staff members a session was organized on ‘Preparation of Research Project Proposal’
- Every year KRIC organises ‘Research Project Exhibition’ of all the students who have participated in ‘AVISHKAR’ competition
