The patient should be laid on the hard surface, then tap the victim on both the shoulders to check responsiveness and ask loudly if he is ok. Then check for breathing by placing the palm of the hand on the abdomen for ten seconds. Only if the victim is not breathing, begin chest compressions at the rate of 100 to 120 per minute. Continue CPR with the help of another bystander until the victim resumes normal breathing, shows signs of life or emergency medical help arrives. She added that, if CPR technique is not showing any sign of revival, it is advisable to obtain an AED (Automated External Defibrillators)kit and should use the machine for giving shock treatment as per the instructions given on the machine.
The session ended with the question-and-answer round. More than 500 students and parents were present for the session to learn the CPR technique. Asst. Professor Pooja Ambole compered the programme and proposed a vote of thanks.
