The Department of BBA IB organized an industrial visit to Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale, Pune, on Saturday, 13 December 2025. A total of 55 students participated in the visit. The main objective of the visit was to provide practical exposure to students regarding the manufacturing process of Indian sweets and namkeens, especially the famous Bhakarwadi. The visit also aimed to help students understand how a traditional family-owned business successfully blends heritage with modern production techniques, along with gaining insights into quality control, packaging, warehousing, distribution, marketing, supply chain and human resource practices in an FMCG food industry.
During the visit, students were introduced to the history and growth of Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale, a renowned and trusted brand in Maharashtra. Company representatives explained the journey of the organization from a small family run sweet shop to a large-scale food manufacturing unit. Emphasis was laid on maintaining traditional taste, quality and values while adopting advanced technology to meet growing market demand. Students observed the complete manufacturing process of sweets and snacks, starting from the selection and storage of raw materials to final packaging. The production process involved both automated machinery and skilled manual work, ensuring consistency in taste and quality. Strict hygiene and cleanliness standards were maintained throughout the production area.
The industrial visit proved to be an enriching learning experience for the students, as it successfully connected classroom learning with real world industrial practices. The visit not only enhanced their understanding of food manufacturing and management operations but also inspired them to appreciate the effort behind building and sustaining a successful traditional Indian brand in a competitive market.
