The National Service Scheme of Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce on 2nd October 2024 celebrated the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhiji, who taught the world principles of truth, non-violence, and tolerance, as well as Lal Bahadur Shastri, the second Prime Minister of India who championed the slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan” and initiated the Green Revolution.
On this occasion, dignitaries honored the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri by offering flowers to their idols. Principal Dr. Mukta Karmarkar provided invaluable guidance and motivation to the volunteers. NSS Program Officer Prof. Nilesh Nemade shared insights into the significant contributions of both leaders to the nation’s development. Additionally, a documentary film showcasing the lives of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri was screened.
As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, a cleanliness rally was organized to raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness, waste management, and community participation in the Swachh Bharat mission. During the rally, volunteers chanted slogans promoting cleanliness, waste segregation, and sustainable living practices. The rally route extended from Kaveri College to Nal Stop Metro Station and from Ramwadi Metro Station to Aga Khan Palace, emphasizing the significance of cleanliness.
At the Aga Khan Palace, student volunteers participated in an exhibition that focused on the life of Mahatma Gandhi. During their visit, Mrs. Neelima Mahajan addressed the volunteers and shared her insights on Gandhi’s thoughts. She discussed his principles of peace, truth, and non-violence, helping the students understand how they can apply these values in their own lives. Total 86 NSS student volunteers participated in this event and made the event successful.
