The Kaveri Kautilyas Club under the Department of Arts conducted its first session of the academic year with an engaging and informative event comprising two interactive sub-sessions – News Flashes and Eco Charades. This session was held on Saturday, 26th July 2025 with an aim to introduce students with the Kaveri Kautilya Club, to provide exposure to students about important concepts in Economics and promote awareness of current affairs through interactive news updates. The session commenced with a warm welcome and an introduction by the student host Ms. Tanishka Ghodke, who briefed the audience about the club’s origins, objectives, and relevance. The News Flashes segment focused on updating students with important state, national, and international events from the month of July, compiled and presented by the host and a volunteer. This segment was introduced to encourage students to stay informed in an era where dependence on unauthentic news sources is increasing, and newspaper readership is declining.
The second and primary segment, Eco Charades, was an innovative and interactive game combining elements of Dumb Charades and Heads-up, aimed at reinforcing economic concepts in an enjoyable way. A participant would hold an economic concept (in picture form) above their head, while the audience gave clues to help them guess the term. Once guessed, a short discussion on the concept followed, after which the participant selected the next contestant. This method not only ensured active participation but also deepened understanding of basic economics in a fun, relatable manner.
The session concluded with a heartfelt address by alumna Sharvari Joshi, who shared her enriching experiences as a former member of the Kautilya Club, inspiring the current batch with her enthusiasm and memories. More than 15 students joined the session.
