As part of the practical curriculum for the First Year Bachelor of Arts (FYBA) program and SYBA program, an educational field visit was organized to Bhimthadi Jatra 2025. This visit was designed to provide students with a hands-on understanding of rural economics, the functioning of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and the marketplace dynamics of traditional artisans.
Bhimthadi Jatra 2025 featured a diverse array of sections as follows:
Bhimthadi Select: A curated section of 30 stalls blending traditional heritage with contemporary design.
Rural Exhibition: Over 300 stalls featuring SHGs from 24 districts of Maharashtra and 12 states.
Agriculture & Innovation: Focus on 25 farmers showcasing GI-tagged and “residue-free” produce.
The Food Court: 85+ stalls offering authentic rural and Maharashtrian cuisine.
Heritage Attractions: A Grand Floral Entrance and a dedicated section for the 12 Balotedar (traditional village trades).
A survey on“Economic Profile & Market Impact on Entrepreneurs at Bhimthadi Jatra” was conducted by the students during the visit under the supervision of faculty members. The 12 students were divided into pairs to conduct a primary survey and collected data from the stall owners in the Bhimthadi Jatra.
- Sample Size: 40+ Respondents (Entrepreneurs, Farmers, and Artisans).
- Data Collection: Students used a structured questionnaire to interview participants regarding their initial capital, labor involvement, and marketing hurdles.
The visit successfully bridged the gap between theoretical economic concepts and grassroots reality. The 40+ samples collected will serve as the basis for the students’ practical project reports.
