The NSS Unit of Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune organized an HIV/AIDS Awareness Programme on 9th July 2026 with the objective of educating students about HIV/AIDS, promoting preventive measures, and eliminating misconceptions and social stigma associated with the disease.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of the Principal, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar. During the awareness session, Mr. Nilesh Nemade, NSS Programme Officer, highlighted the importance of HIV/AIDS awareness among young people. He explained the causes, modes of transmission, symptoms, preventive measures, and the significance of early diagnosis and timely treatment. He also clarified that HIV does not spread through casual contact and encouraged students to treat people living with HIV/AIDS with dignity, respect, compassion, and without discrimination.
As part of the programme, all participating students actively took the HIV/AIDS Awareness Pledge, pledging to spread accurate information about HIV/AIDS, promote healthy practices, and support efforts to eliminate stigma and discrimination in society.
The programme significantly enhanced students’ understanding of HIV/AIDS and motivated them to adopt responsible behaviour, create awareness within their communities, and contribute towards building a healthy, informed, and inclusive society. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Principal, NSS volunteers, and all participants for their enthusiastic involvement and support in making the programme successful. Total 50 students participated in the Activity.
