The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a Pustak Vachan Activity on 9th December 2025 with the objective of inculcating reading habits among students, enhancing knowledge, improving thinking abilities, and developing language skills.
The students actively participated in the Pune city–level initiative titled “Shantata Punekar Vachat Aahet”, which highlights the importance of reading in a calm, peaceful, and focused environment. The activity witnessed enthusiastic and sincere participation from the students.
As part of the program, students selected books of their choice, including stories, biographies, motivational books, science-related books, literature, and reference materials. A silent reading session was conducted in a serene atmosphere, enabling students to read with full concentration. During the session, students clicked photographs while reading and uploaded them on the designated portal as instructed.
The activity proved to be highly effective in encouraging students to develop regular reading habits. It also helped them realize the importance of books in gaining knowledge, improving concentration, and maintaining mental calmness. Participation in the “Shantata Punekar Vachat Aahet” initiative further contributed to spreading awareness about the significance of reading culture in society.
