The NSS Unit of Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune organized the Rice Plantation activity under the guidance of the Principal, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar at post: Akole Taluka- Mulshi Dist -Pune on 12th July 2026 . The activity was coordinated by Mr. Nilesh Nemade, NSS Programme Officer, with active support from Prof. Tejas Sonawane, Assistant Professor, Mr. Milind Patil, and Mrs. Jyoti Satpute. The faculty members emphasized the importance of agriculture, environmental conservation, and the indispensable role of farmers in ensuring food security. They encouraged students to appreciate the dignity of labour, respect the invaluable contribution of farmers, and actively participate in initiatives that promote sustainable agriculture, environmental protection, and community development.
During the Rice Plantation activity, NSS volunteers enthusiastically participated in paddy transplantation alongside local farmers. The activity provided students with practical exposure to traditional rice cultivation techniques and enabled them to experience the values of teamwork, discipline, dignity of labour, and social responsibility. Volunteers worked collectively in the fields and gained first-hand knowledge of the efforts involved in agricultural practices.
The Rice Plantation Drive successfully sensitized students to the significance of farming and rural life while fostering environmental consciousness and community service. The programme inspired participants to appreciate the invaluable contribution of our Annadatas (farmers) and strengthened their commitment towards sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, and nation-building through voluntary service. Total 30 students participated in this activity.
