Kannada Sangh Pune’s, Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, and Savitribai Phule Pune University’s “SPPU Startup Talk Series-Conversations with Young Entrepreneurs”, a guest lecture was scheduled on: Foodpreneurship: Opportunities for Young Entrepreneurs in Catering Industry’ was organized on 18 February 2026 under the college’s Startup and Innovation Cell. The purpose of the session was to raise awareness about startups among students and provide guidance on entrepreneurial opportunities, how to start and manage a catering business, as well as to impart students with real-life experiences, challenges, and practical insights in the catering business. On this occasion, Ms.Gayatri Gaikwad, Founder of Gayatri Foods – Catering Services, was a resource person. Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice-Principal Dr. Anand Buddhikot, and Head of the College’s Startup and Innovation Cell Prof. Soniya Kumbhojkar were also present. College faculty members and a large number of students attended the session.
At the beginning of the session, Prof. Soniya Kumbhojkar explained the main objective of the lecture series and outlined the program. Ms. Gayatri Gaikwad, founder of Gayatri Foods and Catering, started the lecture by inspiring students with her own experiences as well as with her courageous attitude of overcoming situations with determination. She presented to the students the various experiences, before starting the catering business and her willingness to work hard and adapt to circumstances. While starting the catering business, she explained the various management lessons and the challenges she faced through numerous examples.
She also emphasized the importance of food quality and taste in the catering business. Additionally, she shared her experiences with students about expansion of the business while keeping in mind quality, taste, and customer preferences. They motivated the students to carry out their tasks in a disciplined manner in catering the social events and wedding ceremonies. With her own experiences, she instilled in the students the determination to overcome many situations in life and move forward. With question and answer rounds she provided in-depth knowledge of the catering business. Student Ms.Ruchi Joshi compered and proposed the vote of thanks.
