The Pune International Kids Gen Alpha Marathon 2026 was successfully organized on 1st February 2026 as a joint initiative of the Pune International Marathon Trust and Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune. The event commenced at 6:45 am at Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao High School Ground (KHS), Ganesh Nagar, Erandwane, Pune, with great enthusiasm and active participation from approximately 1000 participants (Children from Under-5 to Under-14 age groups) across Pune. With the objective to promote physical fitness and healthy lifestyle habits among children, to inculcate sports culture and competitive spirit at a young age, to encourage participation of parents in children’s fitness activities and to create awareness about the importance of regular physical activity.
The marathon included different race categories such as Under-10, Under-12, and Under-14 (Boys and Girls). A special Fun Run for children aged 5 to 8 years, accompanied by their parents, was also conducted to promote family involvement in sports and fitness.
Before the commencement of the race, participants enjoyed an energetic Zumba dance warm-up session, which created a lively and motivating environment. All necessary arrangements regarding safety, hydration, breakfast, and medical support were ensured for smooth conduct of the event.
All participants were awarded T-shirts, finisher medals, and certificates. Trophies and gift hampers were presented to the first three winners in each category. The presence of Principal Dr. Mukta Karmarkar and Mr. Abhay Chajed as Chief Guests encouraged and inspired the young participants. The marathon was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Senior Sports Organizer Mr. Abhay Chajed, and the College Principal Dr. Mukta Karmarkar, who waved the green flag. Additionally, on this occasion, Mr. Rohan More from Pune International Marathon Trust, Vice-Principal Dr. Anand Budhikot, Director of Physical Education Department Dr. Rohit Tambe, and all teaching and non-teaching staff were present.
The faculty and staff members of Kaveri College, especially the Department of Physical Education & Sports, actively contributed to planning, coordination, and execution, ensuring the grand success of the marathon. It enhanced awareness about fitness and sports among children with active participation of parents and community members. It also added development of discipline, confidence, and sportsmanship in students.
The Pune International Kids Gen Alpha Marathon 2026 was a highly successful outreach and sports activity. It effectively promoted physical fitness, community participation, and holistic development of children, aligning with the institutional goals of health, wellness, and social responsibility.
