The Traditional Indian Board Games Exhibition was organized by the BBA-CA Department in association with the IIC and IQAC Departments on 27th February 2026 at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune. The exhibition was arranged for students of all years with the objective of promoting awareness about India’s rich cultural heritage through traditional games and encouraging strategic thinking and mindful recreation.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Ms. Manisha Tapasvi, Project Manager, De Aasara Foundation, in the presence of Principal Dr. Mukta Karmarkar, Vice Principal Dr. Anand Buddhikot, and IQAC Co-ordinator Mrs. Chitra Alvani.
Students from First Year BBA-CA and BBA actively volunteered for the event. Each volunteer was assigned to a specific game to guide participants and explain the rules and significance of the games, ensuring smooth conduct of the exhibition.
Several dignitaries from the management and faculty visited the exhibition and enthusiastically participated in the games. The distinguished visitors included – Ms. Sumathi Shrinivasan,Head Admin, Kannada Sangha,Dr. Jayashree Bangali- Director, Quality and Benchmarking, Principal – Dr. Mukta Karmarkar, Vice Principal – Dr. Anand Buddhikot, IQAC Co-ordinator – Mrs. Chitra Alvani, and BBA-IB Co-ordinator – Mrs. Soniya Kumbhojakar. They appreciated the initiative and actively engaged with the students while playing different games.
A total of 10 traditional Indian games were exhibited, including Ashtapada, Asha Chamma, Chaupar, Dash-Guti, Kach-Pani, Moksha Patam, Pallangunchi, Paramapadam, Sagargote, and Vidya Yatri.
Among these, the Vidya Yatri game was specially developed by Mrs. Chitra Alavani, based on traditional ethical values and virtues, highlighting the importance of moral learning through gameplay.
Overall, 43 students participated in various games during the exhibition. Traditional board games not only provide entertainment but also help in developing important skills such as strategic thinking, logical reasoning, decision-making, and an appreciation for traditional values.
The exhibition successfully created an engaging learning environment and revived interest among students in India’s traditional gaming heritage.
