Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce to commemorate 150 th Birth Anniversary of M.K. Gandhi organised various social activities under National Service Scheme Department on 2th October2019. Mr.Nilesh Nemade, Programme Officer explained the outline of the programme and welcomed all. Principal Dr. Ashok Agarwal in his inaugural addressed mentioned the importance of personality development which occurs through participation in NSS. Vice Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, teachers and students were also present.
The programme started with NSS song. The dignitaries paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. After this, a rally was organised to spread awareness about cleanliness. Students exhibited posters based on the ideas of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, ‘Plastic Free India’ and Mahatma Gandhi. They cleaned the campus and segregated the waste.
A guest lecture by Vaijayanti Chiplonkar, who has worked in Hujurpaga College as Head of Bahishal Department, was arranged. She emphasised on the labour culture and how Gandhi was instrumental in promoting the same. She also acknowledged the importance of non-violence, mental health, social hygiene, organic food production, as preached by Gandhi. She further informed about the works of Sant Gadge Baba and Kasturba Gandhi to emphasize the importance of cleanliness. The programme was concluded by vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Manasi Joshi.
