Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce in association with Rotary Club Laxmi Road Pune and Revive Heart Foundation conducted an Awareness Programme on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation on Monday, 30th September 2024. It was jointly organized with NSS and SDO Department of Kaveri College. Famous Cardiologist Dr. Varun Nivargi and his team of doctors guided the audience with proper demonstration of CPR. Incharge Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Rotary Club Laxmi Road Pune’s Ex-President Rotarian Hemant Shirguppi , Serving President Rotarian Tushar Gore, NSS Program Officer Mr. Nilesh Nemade, Student Development Officer Dr. Anand Buddhikot and other dignitaries were present on this occasion.
After Inauguration, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar welcomed and informed the importance of equipping with life skills for education beyond the classroom. Dr. Anand Buddhikot briefed on the arranging this session and importance of need and knowledge of CPR.
Dr. Varun Nivargi communicated through audio-video PPT presentation and highlighted the reason for the increase in sudden deaths. He added that with presence of mind, we can save the life using the CPR technique. He felt that it is necessary to create more and more awareness of using CPR for saving lives. In case of cardiac arrest, a series of steps to be administered on the patient ware explained by him. He also explained the main difference between heart attack and cardiac arrest. He explained the need along with the importance of CPR technique. With his team of doctors, he explained when to give CPR and how to give CPR on a patient. He explained the use of AED (Automated External Defibrillators) kit for giving treatment to patient. His team of doctors explained the importance of first aid and emergency services in reducing the number of sudden deaths.
The session ended with the question-and-answer round. The session got tremendous response form students. Student representative Mr. Ved Walbhojkar compered the programme and SDO Dr. Anand Buddhikot proposed a vote of thanks.
