The Annual Sports Prize Distribution Ceremony of the Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune was held on Friday 15th July 2022 for the academic year 2020-21 and 2021-22 with great enthusiasm. Mr. Rahul Singh- Olympian & Assistant Commissioner GST-Pune Division and Subedar Kashinath Naik – Delhi Commonwealth Games Medalist & Head Coach, Indian Army Athletics Team graced the occasion as Chief Guests. Mr. Kushal Hegde-President, Kannada Sangha Pune, Mr. Balajeeth Shetty-Trustee, Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Vice Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Prof. Rohit Tambe- Head-Physical Education Department, teachers and students were present for the event. Principal Dr.Ashok Agrawal, in his address, briefed everyone about the reputation Kaveri College has earned by achieving comprehensive development in a short span of time. This was followed by welcome and felicitation of guests by the hands of President Mr. Hegde.
On this occasion, the students who have achieved special success in the field of sports at various levels were honored with certificates, medals and prizes by the auspicious hands of the chief guests. Students participating and winning medals in Khelo India, All India Inter University Competitions, etc were honored and awarded the title of The Outstanding Athlete by the college.
On this occasion, Subedar Kashinath Naik, in his address, motivated students by sharing his life story and hardships on the path of becoming a successful sports person. He also talked about his glorious achievements in sports career. He said that “You can overcome any adverse situation if you have strong will and dedication towards achieving something”. “It is also very important to maintain a certain discipline and dedication in life on your path to success, because no problem is permanent, every lock has its key”, he added while guiding the students.
Former Captain of the Indian Hockey Team, Mr. Rahul Singh, in his address, mentioned that everyone has talent, but giving an appropriate direction to the talent, bringing the best out of a person is very important in order to make successful champions. He explained the immense importance of Sports in human life. He emphasized that one should constantly strive to improve one’s performance by setting a discipline, goal, practice, dedication and schedule. He re-emphasised many of the thoughts provoked by Mr. Naik. He also mentioned that he is eager to come to Kaveri to guide the students on the ground and play with them.
While appreciating the merits of the students, President Mr. Kushal Hegde said that “Kaveri Institute continuously encourages students to become good sportsmen. We strive tirelessly to cultivate sportsmanship in students. Many of our students have represented in national and international level sports competitions and achieved success so far and we are proud of our students”.
Ms. Alapi Chauhan moderated the program. Head of Physical Education Department Prof. Rohit Tambe presented the Vote of Thanks. All the teaching, non-teaching staff, and around 150 students were present for this event.
