National Service Scheme Unit of Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune celebrated Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti who brought about the Green Revolution and White Revolution in the country. on 2nd October 2023. NSS volunteers celebrated and cheered the different values like non-violence, tolerance and truth on this special occasion.
On the occasion of the 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, NSS volunteers organized a cleanliness drive as a part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. The students cleaned the campus surroundings, and they also segregated the collected waste.
A guest lecture based on ‘Mahatma Gandhi’s Views on the Development of Youth’ was conducted for the students. Mr. Sudhir Gade, Professor, Electronics Department of Abasaheb Garware College and Joint Secretary of Maharashtra Education Society, Pune, was invited as a guest speaker on this occasion.
He enlightened students by stating various facts of Gandhiji’s life. He talked about how Gandhiji practiced moral values like Equality and Humanity. He conveyed different teachings of Gandhiji and spoke about using them in daily life. He also talked about inculcating these life skills in one’s life in a very relevant and interesting manner.
After this, a short film based on the life of Lal Bahadur Shastri was shown to the students.
All volunteers participated enthusiastically in this program. Principal, Dr. Ashok Agrawal and Vice Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar motivated and guided the students. NSS Program Officer, Mr. Nilesh Nemade and Assistant Programme Officer Mrs. Sujata Bachhav conducted this whole program. Ms.Tanvi Zurunge did compereing for the event. Office Superintendent, Mr. Ravindra Bhalerao also marked his presence during this program.
