Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune organized, A Documentary Film Screening of “Vinchurniche Gandhi”. The event was conducted by National Service Scheme and Board of Students Development on 27th September 2024. On this occasion Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Executive Director Academics, Higher Education, Incharge Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Producer of Documentary and Sustainable Living Coach Mrs. Seema Agarwal, Mrs. Geeta Tai Deshmukh, Producer and Editor Mr.Harish Tarun, Dr. Anand Buddhikot – SDO and Mr. Nilesh Nemade NSS PO were present.
Dr. Anand Buddhikot, provided an introduction and explained the purpose of the event. He outlined the objectives, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness about environmental issues. In the welcome speech, Incharge Principal Dr. Mukta Karmarkar emphasized the significance of Environmental Science in the curriculum. She highlighted how the documentary serves as an inspiring source for students, emphasizing its relevance to sustainable development and the importance of caring for the environment. The screening of documentary film “Vinchurni che Gandhi” was done in the auditorium for students.
Mrs. Seema Agarwal, delivered the keynote address. In her address, she highlighted that the film addresses crucial topics such as climate change, global warming, and the importance of nature and afforestation. The documentary tells the inspiring true story of 96-year-old Shri Babulal Gandhi Kaka, who transformed 120 acres of barren land into a lush green forest. This powerful narrative aims to educate and motivate students about environmental conservation and the impact of individual action.
Mr. Harish Tarun, the film’s editor, shared his experiences and insights about the shooting the documentary film. He explained that the “Water-Land-Forest,” this is the main formula of Shri Babulal Gandhi, who initiated a significant green revolution. He successfully experimented with agriculture, afforestation, and medicinal plant cultivation, creating a natural source of oxygen while following the laws of nature.
Geeta Tai Deshmukh concluded the program by engaging with students and answering their questions. She shared the challenges Babu Kaka Gandhi faced in his journey, emphasizing his determination and resilience in overcoming obstacles. Additionally, she highlighted the diverse plants and trees that were introduced in the area and grown successfully. Her insights underscored the significance of perseverance in environmental efforts and inspired students to reflect on their own roles in promoting sustainability.
Program was compered by NSS APO Mrs. Rashmi Joshi and SDO Dr. Anand Buddhikot proposed vote of thanks. More than 500 students attended this session.
