National Youth Day Celebration at Kaveri

National Youth Day was celebrated on 12th January 2021. The celebrations started with paying reverence to Swami Vivekananda’s portrait by Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Vice Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar , NSS Programme Officer Mr. Nilesh Nemade and the Course Coordinators. The birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated through a lecture on the life and learning of Swami Vivekananda. The resource person was Mrs. Vaijayanti Chiplonkar, Former Principal and renowned author. The resource person took us through a verbal story of Swamiji’s young life, and talked about his immense intelligence and grasping power. By sharing an anecdote of his young life, Mrs Chiplonkar talked about how the virtue of social responsibility was imbibed in young Narendra by his mother. She mentioned about the world famous Chicago speech and how it still inspires people. By narrating incidents of Swamiji’s life, Vaijayanti Chiplonkar madam talked about self talk, self confidence and self dialogue. She also talked about how Swami Vivekananda’s mentor Shri Ramkrishna Paramhansa taught to respect the Daridri Narayan and how one should devote time to serve the poor and the disadvantaged.

The session ended by taking the ‘Majhi Vasundhara’ pledge by the staff and students.

On 18th January 2021, a virtual session on ‘The Changing Mindset of Youth due to COVID 19’ was undertaken by the NSS Unit at 1 pm. Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal attended the session. Mr. Nilesh Nemede , NSS Programme Officer introduced the topic and the guest. The resource person of the session was Ms. Rucha Shrikhande, practising Clinical Psychologist. She stressed on the difference in physical and mental health. She brought to the notice of the audience that due to the pandemic and the lockdown there has been a tremendous increase in the cases of depression. The worry about the future has led to cases of anxiety and stress. She discussed the issues of the pandemic like no physical activity, career obstacles, work life balance, negative thinking etc.

She gave a four point remedy to the above issues, which were- express your feelings, find out what one needs, What are the things that can make oneself happy and feeling happy about yourself.

Mrs. Bhakti Dandekar proposed a vote of thanks. During the session, all COVID guidelines were strictly adhered to and norms regarding social distancing, mask wearing and use of soap and sanitizer were followed.
