Department of English of Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Pune has arranged a field visit on 11th April 2023 to Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune.
Main objective of this visit was to give students a brief introduction of FTII and its activities and make them aware about the career opportunities in Film Making, Television Production and Cinematography etc. Students from various courses joined this visit to have a thrilling experience behind the cameras. FTII is recognized as a centre for excellence in audio visual media across the world and one of the best film institutes in India.
Mr.Harshad Wani and Mr.Omkar Ghare, Production Assistants at FTII welcomed all for the visit. Students were taken to the “Central Camera Store”, where they were given a short historical introduction of vintage camera and they also experienced the classic angels of vintage and digital cameras. Mr.Sagar Rajput from the “Central Camera Store” briefed on cameras.
At ‘Studio Number 1’, the students got to know about how these cameras are being used in film or documentary making. Students also enjoyed the sights of different sets. At ‘Studio Number 2’, Mr. Jijoy, Director and Professor at FTII, was conducting his class. Sir Jijoy very enthusiastically gave the short account of Post-Graduate Diploma in Acting to motivate students to pursue a career in acting. The students also visited the Screenplay and Film Editing Department, where they learned how sound and scene editing is done in the films. Students visited V. Shantaram Point, Television Wing where classic scenes of films directed by V.Shantaram were shot. Mr. Harshad Wani briefed and guided about the courses which FTII runs at the campus. Ms.Suchismita Mohanty, Coordinator- BA expressed the gratitude on behalf of Kaveri College, for the immense support and guidance by FTII, by presenting an appreciation letter to Mr. Abraham Josef, the Production Manager, FTII.
With this field visit to FTII, students of the Kaveri College became aware about the career opportunities in the world of film making and its different areas such as editing, screenplay writing, cinematography etc. More than 90 students benefited from this field visit to FTII.
