Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Department of Arts had organized a field visit for the students of SYBA and TYBA Psychology special to the Schizophrenia Awareness Association (SAA) on 28th February 2024.The objectives of the visit were to understand the importance of SAA with regards to mental health awareness and to explore an inclusive platform that describes how mental disorders are treated and what are the therapeutic approaches used specifically for schizophrenics.
SAA is a non-profitable organization running for people diagnosed with Schizophrenia. Students were made aware about the function of SAA for mental health awareness, they are also creating a lot of awareness with regards to shaping Government Policies for the mentally challenged.
The students had an interactive session with the Secretary of SAA, Dr. Ravindranath Chandran. The visit helped the students to gain insight about the various therapies and counseling services available in the center for the patients. Dr. Aarti Pandit, Counsellor at SAA shared briefly about various cases of schizophrenia patients and how they are helping them with vocational training, psychoeducational support which they are providing to the families of the patient. The students had a great learning experience. Around 70 students were present for this field visit.
