Department of BBA and BBA IB of Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Pune has arranged an industrial visit on 29th April 2023 to National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) at Rasayani, Navi Mumbai.
Main objective of this industrial visit was to help students to understand the concept of Securities Market and to enable students to get practical knowledge of Stock Market Investment. It also helped students to look for careers in the stock Market. Finance specialization students of SYBBA and TYBBA and Economics specialization students from SYBA and TYBA participated in the visit. NISM is an Educational initiative of SEBI and is established to carry out capacity building in the securities markets. It has a sprawling 72-acre campus with state-of-the-art infrastructure which the students witnessed in its full glory.
The representatives of NISM welcomed the students and teachers and took them around the campus for a tour. Later on there was an interaction session on the introduction to financial markets, NISM certifications and careers in securities markets etc. In the second session students participated in the simulation session of the stock exchange. NISM has a well-developed trading simulation lab in which participants can get hands-on experience of actual stock market trading. Each student was allotted a trading terminal. The facilitator explained basic concepts of trading and a simulation exercise on intraday trading and strategies for intraday trading was conducted. The students were allotted dummy Rs. 20 lakhs and were asked to invest it wisely so as to get maximum daily marked to market profits. The students were excited to take advantage of this opportunity and did their best to select stocks to buy and sell. The continuous rise and fall in stock prices kept the participants on their toes to revise and modify their trading strategies. At the end of the session the participants were assessed on the basis of their marked to market profit. The students earning maximum M2M profits were awarded with a goodie bag consisting of NISM books and souvenirs.
The key takeaways of the visit were that the students became aware of various career opportunities in the securities markets and learnt to make practical use of theory concepts. Total 86 students participated in this visit to NISM.
