On the occasion of International Yoga Day 2025, Kaveri College of Arts, Science & Commerce celebrated the event with great enthusiasm. The event was organized by the Department of Physical Education & Sports to promote the holistic health benefits of yoga amongst students and faculty. The Principal, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, felicitated the guest and expressed appreciation for valuable guidance by resource person. Vice Principal, Dr. Anand Buddhikot, also graced the occasion.
This year, the theme declared by the Ministry of AYUSH was “One Earth, One Health”, focusing on the connection between planetary and personal health through yoga.
The program commenced with a welcome of Dr. Rupesh Ramchandra Thopate, a Yoga Scholar and Director of Physical Education & Sports at Dr. Ambedkar College, Pune. He is also the founder of the Yoga Therapy & Rehabilitation Centre.
Dr. Thopate delivered a well-structured and insightful session covering:
- Postural correction (standing and seated)
- Asanas beneficial for the lumbar spine, pelvic area, and spinal health
- Therapeutic yoga movements for modern-day lifestyle issues
- Breathing practices (Pranayama) to enhance focus and mindfulness
He stressed the importance of mindful breathing, helping individuals live in the present and reduce stress and anxiety.
A parallel session for students was led by Ms. Kalyani Tulpule, an experienced yoga instructor with expertise in yoga for athletes and adventure enthusiasts. She guided students through:
- Omkar chanting
- Asanas such as Chakrasana, Ardha Chakrasana, Trikonasana, Veerbhadrasana, Padmasana, Tadasana, Vrikshasana
- Explained the benefits, duration, and alignment of each asana in detail
Students actively participated and practiced all asanas with enthusiasm and focus.
Mr. Rohit Tambe, Director of Physical Education & Sports, proposed the Vote of Thanks, appreciating the guests, participants, and organizing team for making the program a grand success. The event reflected the institution’s commitment to wellness, discipline, and awareness through yoga.
