The NSS Unit of the college in association with SPPU organized a seven-day Special Camp at Kasaramboli, Tal. Mulshi, Dist. Pune from 16th to 22nd January 2024. The theme of the Special camp was ‘Yuvakancha Dyhas Gram Shahar Vikas’ Antargat ‘Loksankhya Niyantran Janjagruti’. The camp was flagged by In-charge Principal Dr.Muckta Karmarkar, on this occasion she appealed to the students to contribute as part of their social responsibility towards the nation.
The camp was inaugurated on 17th January 2024. The inauguration function was presided by In-charge Principal Dr.Muckta Karmarkar and the function was inaugurated by the hands of Deputy Sarpanch Mrs.Pooja Sutar. On this occasion Gram Panchayat members, Mrs. Chayatai Bhilare, Mr. Shankar Sutar, BA Coordinator Suchismita Mohanty and BSc (CS) Cordinator Dr. Anand Buddhikot, NSS PO Mr. Nilesh Nemade, APO Mrs. Sujata Bachhav were present.
In her presiding address, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar motivated the students to participate in social work with disciplined behavior. She thanked Kasar Amboli Gram Panchayat members and the villagers for their cooperation over the years and appreciated the students for their contribution in the development of the Kasar Amboli village.
Under this special camp the NSS volunteers undertook a Leprosy Detection and Tuberculosis Detection survey in the village. The volunteers also got experience of working in a farm, where they cleaned the fields and did the maintenance of the plants. The volunteers conducted cleanliness drives at Sutarwadi, Shindewadi, Marnewadi and Kasar Amboli village. They also created awareness on Plastic Free village and Tobacco Free village.
During camp various sessions were conducted. Dr. Anand Buddhikot gave guidance about ‘the scholarship scheme’, Prof. Sujata Bachhav and Dr. Sayee Kulkarni gave guidance on the ‘Importance of Team Management’. Ms.Swathy M. conducted a session on ‘Economic Management’. Dr. Ashwini Deshpande provided guidance on population control. Wing Commander Minjur Yagnaraman provided guidance on ‘Personality Development and Opportunities in Air Force’. Mr. Gaurav Bhide and Akshay Bhosale talked about ‘Women Empowerment’. Program Officer Professor Nilesh Nemade guided the students on ‘Self-confidence’.Various activities were conducted in camp that would be helpful for the students for their overall development like Intellectual games, Street play, Drama and Yoga sessions.
The students also got glimpses of Maharashtrian culture through Dindi. Students conducted Dnyaneshwar Palkhi in the entire village. The villagers also actively and enthusiastically participated in the Palkhi. The villagers praised and appreciated the Dindi activity through which they could participate and preserve our culture.
‘Home Minister’ and ‘Haldi Kunku Samarambh’ were organized for ladies in the village. All of them took an active part in it. The winner of the Home Minister was awarded with Maharashtrian Paithani.
The special project ‘Baksa Library’ was planned and implemented this year at the campsite. The objective of this project is to encourage the reading habits of young people. The Baksa Library has been installed in the center of the village and is kept open so that it can be easily accessible to anyone. The library contains various types of informative and educational books, helpful for teenagers and enthusiastic readers.
The valedictory programme of the camp was held on 22nd January 2024. The program was presided by Hon. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha Pune. On this occasion Executive Director Higher Education Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Incharge Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Gram panchayat members Mrs. Chayatai Dilare, Mrs Reshma Sutar and villagers were present.
Hon. Malati Kalmadi madam in her address, congratulated students for successfully completing the special camp. She further appreciated the work which was conducted in the village. Dr. Ashok Agrawal informed the students about the importance of Shram Sanskar and their responsibility towards the nation. In-charge Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar congratulated the students and praised the efforts taken by them in executing the motive of the camp. NSS PO Mr. Nilesh Nemade and APO Mrs.Sujata Bachhav successfully organized the Camp and guided the students.
