NSS volunteers from Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, in collaboration with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), actively managed the Visarjan ceremonies at several key locations in Pune, including Sangam Ghat, Shahu Udyan Jalataran Kendra, Vriddheshwar Siddheshwar Ghat, Vakeshwar Ganapati Mandir Ghat, Gokhale Nagar, Bhusari Colony, and Kalpana Chawla School on 12 September 2024. Student volunteers raised awareness about eco-friendly Ganesh festival celebrations, highlighting the environmental impact of immersing idols in rivers, and guided the public to use artificial ponds for the immersion of Ganesh idols. Further, the volunteers assisted the public with immersing Ganesh idols in artificial ponds.
NSS volunteers advised people against disposing of Nirmalya in rivers, instead collecting it from them and properly disposing of it in designated Kalash containers.
This initiative helped to reduce pollution and demonstrated a commitment to preserving local water resources. The volunteers’ proactive approach and educational efforts were met with widespread appreciation from the community, who commended them for their dedication.

The campaign was conducted under the guidance of the NSS PO Mr. Nilesh Nemade. Total 26 NSS volunteers participated in this activity.
