National Sports Day is celebrated every year on August 29. This day is observed as National Sports Day in honor of hockey player Major Dhyan Chand’s birthday. It highlights the importance of sports and physical activities for our health. Success in sports comes from discipline, hard work, and focus. Both physical fitness and educational excellence are essential for our growth.
On the occasion of National Sports Day, Kaveri College of Arts, Science, and Commerce organized an event under the guidance of Professor Rohit Tambe, Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports. The event included a practical demonstration of shooting sports, an experience in shooting, and an exhibition of shooting sports equipment and pistols.
The program was inaugurated by Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary of Kannada Sangh Pune. Other dignitaries present included Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Executive Director of Higher Education, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, In charge Principal of the College, Sumati Srinivasan, Admin Head of Kaveri Group of Institutions, Dr. Jayashri Bangali, Director of Quality and Benchmarking, Shobha Channal, Principal of Kalmadi Shamarao Junior College, and Pallavi Naik, Headmistress of KHS Secondary School, Ganesh Nagar.
During the event, the college’s international shooters, Anurag Malwade (S.Y.B.Com.) and Arjun Adkar (F.Y.B.Com.), were honored with jerseys. Over 450 students from the college and more than 100 teachers from Kaveri Group of Institutions participated in and enjoyed the shooting sports experience.
