The Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and nationalistic fervor in Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune. The programme was conducted in the Smt. Shakuntala Jagannath Shetty Auditorium, Ganesh Nagar, Pune. The programme was hosted by the Senior College of the Kaveri Group of Institutes.
The flag hoisting ceremony was conducted at the hands of the chief guest of the function, Dr. H. Sudarshan Ballal,in the presence of all dignitaries, members of the Management, teachers, and students across institutes.
The special invites included Mr. Ajit Hegde, Secretary, Bunts Sangha and Mr. Satish Shetty, Member, Bunts Sangha. Mr. Kushal Hegde, President, Kannada Sangha, Dr. Narayan Hegde, Hon. Vice President, Kannada Sangha, Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Hon. Secretary, Kannada Sangha, CA Ashwin Shastri, Hon.Jt. Treasurer, Kannada Sangha, Dr. Chandrahas Shetty, Dr. Balajith Shetty and Mrs Devika Shetty, Hon. Trustees, Kannada Sangha, and Mrs. Sumati Shrinivasan, Administrative Head, Kannada Sangha attended the program. The celebrations were carried out in the presence of the Heads of all Institutions of Kannada Sangha.
Dr. Deepa Sathe, HOD, Commerce Department was the compere of the ceremony. The program began with the felicitation of students across all institutions who have excelled in various co-curricular and extra-curricular fields. The students of the Kannada Medium School then performed two melodious Kannada songs. This was followed by an adaptation of the Marathi play, ‘Sangeet Sharada’ which gave the message of abolition of child marriage. The students of junior college then performed a musical skit documenting the ‘Mission Zindagi’- a massive rescue operation launched by the state government to save 41 workers trapped for 17 days now in the Silkyara Bend – Barkot tunnel collapse in Uttarakhand, India. The students of the senior college performed a rendition of music and dance upholding the message of nationalism.
The Chief guest, Dr. Sudarshan Ballal, in his speech, advised the students to follow their passion without worrying about the system. He then highlighted the importance of nationalism and national pride.
The program ended with Vande Mataram, followed by the vote of thanks presented by Dr. Deepa Sathe.
