Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune conducted a State Level Workshop on Health Awareness on Wednesday, 7th February 2024. The topic of the session was ‘Why Only Humans Need Medicine?’ The programme was organized for the Student and Parents by the Faculty Welfare Committee.
Dr. Suresh Saravdekar, Freelance Medical Consultant, IMS- BHU, Varanasi and Ex. Dy. Director, Ministry of Health, Varanasi, was the resource person for the event. The programme was conducted in the presence of Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Executive Head, Academics(Higher Education), Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Principal In-Charge. CMA Abhay Deodhar, Mentor, Kaveri College, was also present on this occasion. Dr. Agrawal, introduced the guest speaker and also gave an overview of his achievements.
Dr. Saravdekar spoke about the different kinds of medicines available and their specific needs. He talked about how humans are moving away from nature in the name of technology and development. He further talked about the evolution of mankind but the ironic degradation of immunity due to the changes in the environment. According to Dr. Saravadekar, the increasing dependency on medicine leads to further degradation of health. He further suggested ways to remove oneself from this vicious circle. He advised students to set their daily routine according to the seasonal cycle. He further advised the students to meditate and seek inner balance in accordance with nature.
The programme was attended in large numbers by students and residents in and around the city. It proved largely beneficial in creating awareness about individual health and also provided a new perspective towards medicines and its complex usage.
