A session called “Thought Strokes” was conducted under the Kolors of Kaveri Club on the 25th of November 2024. our student host, Ms. Isha Kulkarni began with this experiential session, introducing the activity which focused on emotional expression through creative writing. Ms. Kulkarni asked participants to close their eyes and think of an object, feeling, or thought. They then wrote spontaneously about it within a 5-minute time frame. Afterward, participants shared their writings.
The session emphasized creative expression and its role in emotional awareness, regulation, and insight. The facilitator guided the group through a verbal processing exercise, where participants shared their current thoughts and feelings.
This engaging session explored the idea of being a “good writer” from various perspectives, encouraging everyone to see themselves as a writer, regardless of their profession. It helped participants appreciate their thoughts and feelings, assuring them that their emotions are valid. Writing became a tool for self-expression, providing a chance to connect with our inner thoughts. Participants realized the importance of addressing emotions, as writing can organize thoughts and provide comfort, especially during stressful times.
The session concluded with an exercise to release overwhelming emotions and relax both body and mind. Participants expressed themselves in different ways, such as through movement, breathing, or pacing. The session was well-received, leaving participants feeling safe and understood.
